Team building events, online and offline, are an important part of BarcelonaSail. Every boat tour is an event. So the step from sailing with clients to organizing teambuilding events was easy.

Today we organize corporate events, family events, school events, and even online events. Our hybrid events for corporations and companies can be held online and outside to make events in the covid period more workable.

Our team building activities are aligned with the 17 Unites Nations Sustainability goals.
Sailing Team Building Events in Barcelona
BarcelonaSail offers sailing team building, plastic fishing events, and plastic sailing race in front of the Barcelona coastline.

Sailing team-building events are about competition, learning fast, adapting to a new environment and strategy. Especially the plastic sailing race is very demanding on the teams. Getting to the GPS location, answering questions, score maximum points, and sail as fast as you can to the next digital buoy.
Events to clean the Mediterranean
Our plastic fishing events aim to create awareness of plastic pollution at sea. The events on environmental issues are mostly free. Plastic pollution in front of the Barcelona coastline is a big problem. Therefore we organize 4 events per year on plastic pollution. Barcelonasail prepares a short presentation about plastic pollution to inform, and we set out to fish plastic.

Owner Isgar Bos states: “In 2015 I noticed the enormous amounts of plastic in the sea in front of the Barcelona coastline, and the disappearance of dolphins. We used to see dolphins at least once a week and all of sudden once a month. Now in 2018, we do not see them anymore. I feel strongly that we can do something about the plastic pollution, and BarcelonaSail is a perfect place to make people aware.”

Change management is essential for the survival of companies, but 70% of organizational change initiatives fail. The challenges often lie in the attitude and behavior of employees and managers, rather than in structural or technical aspects. Solarphc and DolEvents focus on addressing the underlying factors of change, such as culture, dynamics, engagement and resistance, to ensure successful change management.

Why is change complex?
Resistance to change arises from a variety of factors, including lack of awareness, fear, and lack of visible support or commitment. Overcoming resistance requires addressing these factors, managing rumor or misinformation, and engaging employees effectively.

Approach to Change:
There are two approaches to change: the traditional planned change (left-hand approach) and the more popular continuous change (right-hand approach). The traditional approach focuses on analyzing, designing and implementing change, while the continuous approach emphasizes continuous development and dialogue to create meaning and engagement.

Upstream and Undercurrent:
In the “upper stream” clear change plans and responsibilities are established, while the “undercurrent” focuses on the less visible aspects of change, such as culture, dynamics, involvement and resistance. Finding a balance between the two is essential for the successful and lasting implementation of change.

Vision on change management:
We emphasize relationship building, focusing on common interests and reading the situation to understand and manage emotions. They emphasize the importance of flexibility, setting clear goals, creating urgency, gaining commitment and identifying influential people within the organization.

Roles in the change process:
DOL Events identifies several key roles in the change process, including the client (management), owner (managers), change manager, project team members and other stakeholders. They also introduce the role of undercurrent custodian or relationship broker to ensure stakeholder engagement and meet change-related needs.

ADKAR change management model:
The ADKAR model focuses on helping employees process and accept change. ADKAR stands for Awareness (raising awareness), Desire (desire), Knowledge (knowledge), Ability (skill) and Reinforcement (strengthening). We apply the ADKAR model in our engaging events.

Onboarding new employees nowadays is not as easy as it used to be. Because more and more staff work remote. How to get your new hire to feel at home and connecting fast within your organization? It is a serious question for which we have developed a gamified solution, that is flexible, fast and proven.

What is Gamified Employee Onboarding?

Gamified Employee onboarding is the process by which new employees are introduced to the social and performance aspects of their new job, in a gamified way. Gamified onboarding gets new hires adjusted more quickly, increasing productivity and job satisfaction, and reducing turnover.

This process includes two steps.

Orientation, getting to know attitudes, company culture and values, employee expectations.

Integration, getting to know the team members, department, where to find information and key people within the organization.

Challenges with new hires?

In today’s world the new hire doesn’t see and meet other team members face to face, therefore it is important to get the new employee fast from their isolated island. New hires are in general a bit shy and calling to introduce yourself is time consuming and intimidating. An email to introduce yourself is far away from a handshake and eye contact. Reading the company manual, on values and attitude is boring.

But to complete tasks and get points for answers through a game sound like fun. And it is! Learn company knowledge and grow into a full-fledged team player through a one day game is the fastest and most successful way to onboard new hires. The game removes shyness, because there is an excuse to interrupt team members. The game forces creativity, opens up minds and drives the new hire to interact because points must be scored.

How does gamified onboarding work?

Digital onboarding of new employees is a day long event, that can be done alone or in a group. We recommend onboarding in small groups. In that case the new hires start meeting each other online and must perform assignments together creating friendships. In case a single new hire is onboarded, more time is given to the orientation phase on topic provide he assignments includes meeting with HR, through video conferencing tools.

Orientation

Through questions, tasks, photo and video assignments the new staff member learns about the company. After the orientation that takes about 2 hours, time for lunch. Integration

After lunch it is time for integration. The new employee meets their new direct team members through 7 minutes interviews. These interviews are all preprogrammed using NLP techniques. Together simple tasks and assignments must be completed, creating a team building effort from the beginning. With the client we decide on the number of interviews.
